KISSPEPTIN-10 fragment

1. What It Does

Kisspeptin-10 is a synthetic decapeptide comprising the C-terminal 10-amino acid fragment of the full Kisspeptin protein, which is derived from the KISS1 gene. It binds to the GPR54/KISS1R receptor, playing a pivotal role in initiating the reproductive hormone cascade. Kisspeptin-10 stimulates the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, which subsequently prompts the pituitary gland to secrete luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These hormones are crucial for sexual development, fertility, and overall reproductive function.

2. Main Reported Benefits

  • Stimulation of Reproductive Hormones: Kisspeptin-10 administration has been shown to increase LH and FSH levels, leading to elevated testosterone production in men, with studies demonstrating increases of 200-300% in LH and 50-150% in testosterone levels within 30-60 minutes of administration.

  • Potential Treatment for Hypogonadism: By enhancing endogenous testosterone production, Kisspeptin-10 may offer therapeutic benefits for men with secondary hypogonadism, potentially preserving fertility compared to traditional testosterone replacement therapies.

  • Improvement in Sexual Function: Studies indicate that Kisspeptin-10 can enhance sexual desire and arousal, as well as increase penile rigidity in men with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD).

3. Normal Applications

Kisspeptin-10 is primarily utilized in clinical research settings to explore its effects on reproductive hormones. Its potential applications include:

  • Treatment of Secondary Hypogonadism: By stimulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, Kisspeptin-10 may serve as an alternative to existing therapies for men with secondary hypogonadism.

  • Preservation of Spermatogenesis: Unlike exogenous testosterone therapies that can suppress sperm production, Kisspeptin-10 may maintain or enhance spermatogenesis by promoting endogenous hormone production.

  • Management of Sexual Dysfunction: Its role in enhancing sexual desire and function positions Kisspeptin-10 as a potential treatment for conditions like HSDD.

4. Common Side Effects

Clinical studies have generally reported that Kisspeptin-10 is well-tolerated in humans. Some observed side effects include:

  • Injection Site Reactions: Mild redness or discomfort at the injection site.

  • Flushing: A sensation of warmth or redness, particularly in the face.

  • Immunogenicity Concerns: With repeated IM administration, there is potential for antibody development against the peptide, which could reduce efficacy over time or cause allergic reactions. This risk appears higher with IM versus IV administration due to different exposure patterns to the immune system.

It’s important to note that while these side effects are typically transient and mild, the long-term safety profile of Kisspeptin-10, especially concerning immunogenicity with IM administration, requires further investigation.

5. Recommended Administration or Dosage

Research on Kisspeptin-10 has predominantly utilized intravenous (IV) administration. However, studies and anecdotal reports from bodybuilding and biohacking communities have explored intramuscular (IM) routes as well.

In animal models, IM injection of Kisspeptin-10 resulted in a rapid and dose-dependent LH surge. In human studies, IV bolus doses ranging from 0.01 to 3.0 μg/kg have been administered, with 1.0 μg/kg eliciting significant hormonal responses without apparent desensitization. Continuous IV infusion at 1.5 μg/kg/hour over 9 hours increased LH pulse frequency and testosterone levels.

For IM administration, which is more common in biohacking communities, anecdotal reports suggest doses of 100-200 μg per injection, administered 1-3 times weekly. Some users report enhanced effects when administered pre-workout or in the early morning to align with natural hormone rhythms.

Given the limited clinical data on IM administration in humans, these protocols should be considered exploratory. Any off-label use should be approached with caution, under strict medical supervision, and within the context of clinical research.

Disclaimer: Kisspeptin-10 is not currently approved for clinical use outside of research settings. Its safety and efficacy profiles are still under investigation. Any consideration of its use should be confined to controlled clinical trials and under the guidance of qualified healthcare professionals.
