Pramipexole

What it does:

Pramipexole is a dopamine agonist that stimulates dopamine receptors in the brain, mimicking the effects of natural dopamine. It is primarily used to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and restless leg syndrome (RLS), but has gained attention for its potential role in enhancing mood, libido, and neuroprotection in off-label and research settings.

Normal Applications:

Medically, Pramipexole is used to manage motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease and reduce discomfort in patients with RLS. In performance and longevity communities, it has been explored for its potential to support dopamine balance, improve sexual function, and reduce prolactin levels, especially when prolactin is elevated due to anabolic steroid use.

Common Side Effects:

Side effects can include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, and impulse control disorders. Some users may experience mood swings, compulsive behavior, or hallucinations, especially at higher doses. Gradual titration and monitoring are advised to mitigate adverse effects.

Administration Recommendations & Ideal Dosages:

Therapeutic dosing typically starts at 0.125 mg daily, with gradual increases up to 0.5–1.5 mg per day depending on the condition. When used to manage prolactin levels in performance settings, lower doses around 0.125–0.25 mg are often sufficient. It should be taken with food to reduce nausea.
